Geospatial data—whether from satellite imagery, multispectral data, satellite-connected IoT sensors, or advanced geographic models—is now a strategic lever for improving the performance, reliability, and resilience of power grids.

It provides utilities with a more complete and up-to-date view of their infrastructure: location and condition of assets, terrain evolution, risk zones, vegetation encroachment, impact of climate change, and more. These are all essential elements for better investment planning, optimizing maintenance operations, reducing incidents, and strengthening service continuity.

This forum aims to open a discussion on the uses, challenges, and opportunities related to integrating geospatial data into power grid management. Participants are invited to share their experiences, operational priorities, and questions in order to collectively identify the most useful solutions for African contexts.
